Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez dies in plane crash hours before concert, aged 34

Colombian singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez and his entire band have died in a tragic plane crash. He was 34.

The Vete singer and his team were en route to Medellin, Colombia, where Jiménez was due to perform a show when their plane crashed and burst into flames.

A statement posted to X from the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (SAUCA) revealed that on Saturday, January 10, the crash had been confirmed "in the area between Paipa and Duitama" in Colombia.

All six people on board, including the pilot, co-pilot and four passengers were killed.

Jiménez' death and the death of his team members was confirmed in a statement posted to his Instagram.

"With heavy hearts and a pain impossible to describe, the organisation and team of Yeison Jiménez deeply regret to inform you of his passing," the statement, translated from Spanish, read.

"Today we say goodbye not only to an artist; we say goodbye to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being full of dreams and courage, who transformed his story into hope for thousands of people."

The other victims of the plane crash were identified as Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel, Oscar Marín, Weisman Mora, and Captain Fernando Torres.

Of Jiménez' death, the statement continued: "Yeison is gone physically, but his legacy remains: in his songs, in his words, in his struggles, in his unwavering determination, and in the indelible mark he leaves on Colombian regional music and in the hearts of his people.

"His light will continue to shine every time someone sings one of his songs and remembers that it is possible to overcome adversity."

The cause of the plane crash remains under investigation, according to TMZ.

Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children.

"I dreamt three times that we were going to have a plane crash and that I had to tell the pilot to turn around," he told Colombian outlet Caracol last month.

"Those were the dreams. And in one of the dreams, I did dream that we had died and that we were on the news.

"And it was the third time I dreamt that. God gave me three signs, and I didn't understand them, I didn't get them."
