Tommy Lee Jones sought conservatorship for daughter Victoria Jones two years before her death, per reports
Tommy Lee Jones reportedly sought a conservatorship for his daughter Victoria Jones, two years before her untimely New Year's Day death.
In August 2023, the Oscar-winner filed a petition to establish a temporary conservatorship over Victoria, according to Marin County Superior Court docket entries reviewed by US publications, including People and The San Francisco Chronicle.
The request was quickly approved by a judge and a temporary conservator was appointed for Victoria, who was 31 at the time, People reports.
The San Francisco Chronicle earlier reported that, at the time of the filing, Victoria was being involuntarily held for 14 days at a hospital in Greenbrae, California, for being a danger to herself and others.
The outlet also reported Tommy had requested that his daughter be moved to a drug rehabilitation facility following her release from the hospital.
The outlets report a request to terminate the temporary conservatorship was granted in December 2023.
Victoria was found unresponsive in a hallway at the San Francisco Fairmont hotel just after 3am (10pm AEDT) on January 1, per reports from US outlets including NBC Bay Area and TMZ.
The San Francisco Fire Department was called to the scene for a medical emergency at 2.52am.
The woman was declared dead on arrival by paramedics at 3.14am, the New York Post reported.
Investigators told local media they don't suspect any foul play, and police are investigating.
Moments after his daughter's death, Tommy broke his silence, telling E! News on January 2, "We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
"Please respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Tommy is best known for his roles in The Fugitive, Men in Black, Lonesome Dove and Batman Forever.
His daughter made her acting debut in Men in Black II in 2002, before appearing in One Tree Hill and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, which was directed by her father.
Victoria is the daughter of Jones and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley.
