'Emotional and overwhelming:' 90 Day Fiancé star Jenny Slatten reveals devastating health diagnosis

90 Day Fiancé alum Jenny Slatten has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), known in Australia as Motor Neurone Disease.

Slatten, 68, and her husband, Sumit Singh, 38, revealed her health diagnosis in a post to their combined Instagram account.

"With a heavy heart, we wanted to share news with all of you guys," the post began.

"There was a rumour that I had a stroke, but it turned out to be ALS."

"At first, we tried to keep it private because it's been very emotional and overwhelming for us.

"We were hoping to find some kind of solution before speaking publicly. But after trying for some time, we feel like it's time to reach out."

The post went on to say the pair are open to "any kind of help," including treatments, clinical trials or lifestyle changes, adding they are willing to try "anything" that "could help treat this disease or slow down its progression."

The reality star told People Magazine that she was diagnosed with the illness in December 2025, one year after she started experiencing symptoms.

ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a "degenerative disorder of specific nerve cells of the spinal cord, brain stem and brain" which "results in the gradual loss of voluntary muscle control leading to paralysis," according to Brain Foundation Australia.

It is the same disease that led to the death of Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane just 10 months after his diagnosis. 

The disease is known to progress rapidly, with no known cure or treatment. Luckily, Slatten's doctors said her illness is progressing slowly.

Slatten's daughter, Christina Marie Cuevas, commented underneath her mum's post, offering words of love and support.

"I love you mum I'm so proud of you," she wrote.

"It's been really hard to keep in and not say anything."

"I've never been so sad but I will never let the sadness take over because we have to have hope. I'll be with you every step of the way.

"Mom and Sumit I love you both so very much."

Fans of the show have flooded the post with messages of support.

Slatten and Singh quickly became fan favourites of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, after appearing on the series in 2019.

The couple live in India, with Slatten moving from the US to be with Singh.
