Kiefer Sutherland arrested over alleged assault on LA rideshare driver

Kiefer Sutherland, the son of late actor Donald Sutherland, was arrested on Monday following an alleged altercation with a rideshare driver in Hollywood.

The actor, 59, was arrested just after midnight on January 12 after "officers responded to a radio call about an assault involving a ride-share driver near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue".

The Los Angeles Police Department told local media that Sutherland was arrested on "suspicion of felony criminal threats."Kiefer Sutherland, son of actor Donald Sutherland, has been arrested.

He was released after posting a $50,000 bond, jail records show.

No injuries that would require medical treatment were reported.

Sutherland will appear in court on February 2.

The actor won a Grammy and a Golden Globe for his role as Jack Bauer in the TV series 24.

Following the show's massive success, he went on to star in leading roles in Designated Survivor and the espionage thriller Rabbit Hole.

Before his TV career, he rose to prominence by portraying a string of antagonists in cult classic films Stand By Me, The Lost Boys and Flatliners.

He also starred in A Few Good Men. 

Kiefer is the son of the late, great Hollywood legend Donald Sutherland.

His father starred in dozens of popular TV shows and movies, including M*A*S*H, Pride and Prejudice, A Time to Kill, The Hunger Games, and Citizen X.

Donald Sutherland died in 2024 after a long illness.
