One event kept Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton in each other's orbit for nearly a decade

Kim Kardashian might just be the queen of hard-launching.

The SKIMS mogul and F1 Driver Lewis Hamilton were spotted on a romantic couples getaway just days before hard launching at the Super Bowl.

This couple's relationship goes back much further than that, with a decades-long friendship building the foundation of their romantic spark.

While Kardashian is based in California, Hamilton lives in the UK – but one event brought them together almost every year for a decade.

A chance meeting (2014)

The pair's first recorded meeting together was a photograph from the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2014.

The photo shows each one standing with their partner at the time.

Kardashian posed with her husband, Kayne West, while Hamilton stood with his long-term girlfriend, Nicole Scherzinger.

All four of them posed together for a picture, which very well could have been the start of their friendship.

We don't know when exactly Kardashian and Hamilton became friends, but this instance is one of the first times they were photographed together.

Easter Brunch (2015)

The following year, Hamilton attended an Easter Brunch at the Kardashian-West home.

Everyone from the Kardashian-Jenner clan was there, as well as extended family members and close friends.

Apparently, during the easter lunch, Hamilton hopped into West's home studio and surprised the whole family with his musical talents. 

The same year, Hamilton was spotted in the VIP section of Glastonbury with the rest of the family when West was headlining Glastonbury.

It's clear Kardashian and Hamilton have remained good friends since then. 

2015 was also the year Hamilton attended his first Met Gala, where he crossed paths with Kim again.

A long list of high-profile run-ins (2016 to 2020)

Kim and Lewis ran into each other again at Paris Fashion Week in 2016, with both of them snapped at the same Balmain event.

The same year, they both attended the Met Gala.

In 2018, both of them attended the Met again. While Kardashian was still married, Hamilton was dodging dating rumours with Nicki Minaj.

The high-end event marked several important encounters for the friends turned lovers.

The pair ran into each other again at the 2019 Met Gala After Party for the theme "Camp: Notes on Fashion."

The pair were reportedly seen together chatting and being friendly, with Kim wearing a blue latex dress.

The following year, Kardashian filed for divorce from her then-husband Kayne West.

The pair attended every Met Gala from 2016 to 2026 (minus 2017), meaning their paths have crossed at least once a year at the luxurious event.

Kardashian attended the 2017 Met Gala; however, Hamilton did not, as the event clashed with his racing schedule.

Kardashian and Hamilton remain in each other's orbit (2021)

In 2021, the pair both attended the Met Gala. This time, Kardashian was single, but Hamilton was not.

The pair just seemed to keep missing one another.

Later that year, the pair were snapped together at the Wall Street Journal's Innovator Awards - but by then, she was already dating Pete Davidson.

Kardashian was being honoured for her brand SKIMS, while Hamilton was being honoured for his sporting achievements.

They were seen posing for photos in a group with Demi Moore. 

Kardashian was with Davidson until August 2022 – he even attended the Met with her while she wore the original Marilyn Monroe dress.

Lewis also attended in an all-pink Valentino ensemble. He did not bring a date.

A milestone moment for Hamilton (2025)

When the Met Gala came around in 2025, Hamilton attended as Co-Chair of the event.

The theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style saw guests draw inspiration from America's rich African-American culture and history.

Kardashian also attended this event – for the first time, both were single. 

Since this event, the pair reportedly became closer friends.

It was the last time the couple were spotted together in public before the paparazzi snapped them on a romantic getaway in the Cotswolds last week.

The pair go public (2026)

The couple went public in 2026, first being spotted on a private getaway at Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire on February 1.

The TV star was pictured in London on Sunday evening, following her stay at the resort on Saturday.

She was reportedly joined by Hamilton, who flew in via Helicopter, an hour after her arrival.

The couple popped up again at the Super Bowl, sitting side by side and at the Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots matchup.

Neither has spoken out publicly about their relationship.
