Stranger Things star surprises with Valentine's Day wedding

Congratulations are in order for Maya Hawke and her partner, singer Christian Lee Hutson, who officially tied the knot in a surprise Valentine's Day wedding.

Maya, 27, and Hutson, 35, stepped out with their family and friends on a wintry day in New York City to celebrate their union, as per photos sighted in People.

Maya wore a sleeveless white wedding dress with a high-low skirt and a matching feathery winter jacket to keep her warm. Her hair was swept up in a classic Hollywood updo.

The groom wore a classic black tuxedo with a white undershirt, while the father of the bride, Ethan Hawke, wore the same with a black shirt.

The mother of the bride, Uma Thurman, stunned in a flowery light blue gown. Also in attendance was Maya's brother, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke.

Ethan and Uma had both of their shared children during their previous high-profile relationship, having been married from 1998 to 2005.

Ethan went on to marry Ryan Shawhughes Hawke, with whom he welcomed Clementine Jean Hawke and Indiana Hawke, while Thurman welcomed a daughter, Luna, with ex-fiancé Arpad Busson.

The wedding guests included Maya's Stranger Things castmates,  Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery.

The former castmates looked snazzy as they were snapped crossing the road in their best attire.

Maya first met Hutson when they recorded music together, with the latter featuring on Maya's 2024 album, Chaos Angel.

In July 2024, Maya shared snaps on Instagram of herself and Hutson lying on a bed and sitting on a plane together.

"I am lucky enough to know this guy @christianleehutson. He is a poet musical genius," she wrote in her caption, adding that she was "lucky enough to write with him" on his album, Paradise Pop. 10.

She spoke of her relationship in the same month on the Zach Sang Show.

"It's awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It's the best," she said.

"They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people.They really know you as a person who has feelings ... not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto."

Hutson subtly confirmed their engagement last year while speaking with SoCal Sound Session last year.

Host Julie Slater had mentioned that Hutson worked on his song Carousel Horses with Phoebe Bridgers and his "fiancée" Maya, to which the musician simply replied, "Yeah."

Maya was later papped wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger while taking a phone call in Manhattan. in April 2025.

The couple made their red carpet debut the same month at the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain, which features Sink in the cast.
