Triple Celebration in Switzerland Honors Dr. José Rizal, and New Members of Ladies of Rizal Switzerland
July 1, 2026 - SWITZERLAND — Members of the Filipino and Rizalian communities in Switzerland gathered for a meaningful triple celebration honoring the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, the 165th Birth Anniversary of Dr. José Rizal, and a special family fellowship hosted by Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang.
The memorable occasion brought together members, dignitaries, families, friends, and supporters in a shared spirit of patriotism, unity, friendship, and service. More than a commemoration, the gathering served as a celebration of Philippine heritage and the enduring ideals of the country’s national hero.
A major highlight of the event was the solemn oath-taking ceremony for the newest members of Ladies of Rizal Switzerland: Lady Christine Viray, Lady Rose Cubela, and Lady Edda Wyss.
Their induction marked the beginning of a renewed commitment to uphold and promote the principles exemplified by Dr. José Rizal through civic participation, cultural education, humanitarian service, and meaningful engagement within the Filipino and international communities.
The ceremony was officiated by Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang, who wore the Medal of Recognition presented by Sir Felino Wy Paras, KGCR.
The oath-taking was witnessed by distinguished officers representing the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland, including Lady Cherryl Trillanes, Lady Lorna Grospietsch-Laurel, Lady Janine Rölli, and Lady Felrich Bonus. Their presence represented the solidarity of the entire organization and reflected its continuing mission to preserve Rizalian values among Filipinos living abroad.
Adding distinction to the occasion was the participation of respected members of the Knights of Rizal: Sir Stephan Urs Breu, KGOR, Area Commander for Switzerland and Poland; Sir Yenz Salangsang, KCR, Chapter Commander of Luzern and Deputy Area Commander for Switzerland and Poland; Sir Nich Viray, KR; and Sir Frank Grospietsch, KR.
Their participation reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the Knights and the Ladies of Rizal in promoting the life, writings, principles, and humanitarian vision of Dr. José Rizal across countries and generations.
Throughout the program, participants reflected on the profound meaning of freedom—not only as the foundation of Philippine nationhood, but also as a guiding principle in building an enlightened, responsible, and compassionate community.
Presentations highlighted the identity and symbolism of the organization, the sacrifices and contributions of Philippine heroes, and the timeless motto of La Liga Filipina, “Unus Instar Omnium,” meaning “One is equal to all.”
The historic motto continues to inspire the Rizalian community to uphold equality, unity, mutual responsibility, and service to others.
The celebration was further enriched by congratulatory and inspirational messages from distinguished leaders and supporters of the Rizalian movement.
Among those who extended their greetings were His Excellency Bernard Faustino La Madrid Dy, Ambassador of the Philippines; Sir Jarie Osia, Consul of the Philippine Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands; Lady Dr. Amalia Rosales, Foundress of Las Damas de Rizal Incorporated; and Sir Virgilio Esguerra, KGCR, Member of the Council of Elders, Pro Patria Awardee, and Past Supreme Commander of the Knights of Rizal.
Their messages warmly welcomed the newly inducted Ladies and encouraged all members to remain steadfast in advancing the values of patriotism, integrity, education, compassion, and selfless service embodied by Dr. José Rizal.
The event also provided an opportunity for members to enjoy a warm and family-friendly fellowship with their loved ones and friends. The gathering strengthened personal relationships while reminding participants that the Rizalian mission is sustained not only through formal ceremonies, but also through friendship, family involvement, mutual respect, and a shared sense of community.
The triple celebration served as a powerful reminder that the legacy of Dr. José Rizal remains vibrant among Filipinos around the world.
Through education, fellowship, cultural awareness, and humanitarian service, the Ladies and Knights of Rizal continue to strengthen national pride while building bridges of friendship within Filipino communities overseas.
