Aussie star Jacob Elordi forced to drop Cannes honour after injury

Aussie actor Jacob Elordi has been forced to miss out on a career-making honour after being injured.

The 28-year-old star was being courted to become an official jury member for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, but has to step away from the role.

The Wuthering Heights actor has broken his foot, which has led to him being replaced as a juror, Page Six reports.

This year's jury is being presided over by South Korean director Park Chan-wook, known for his works such as Oldboy, The Handmaiden, and No Other Choice.

So far the jury consists of actors Demi Moore, Stellan Skarsgård, Ruth Negga, and Isaach De Bankolé, as well as directors Chloé Zhao and Laura Wandel, filmmaker Diego Céspedes, and Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty.

The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is taking place from May 12 to 23.

Elordi has had a wonderful year thus far, having been Oscar-nominated for his role in Frankenstein and starring alongside fellow Aussie Margot Robbie in the blockbuster Wuthering Heights.

He also stars in the third season of Euphoria, which is currently on-air, and will soon be seen in Ridley Scott's post-apocalyptic sci-fi film The Dog Stars.

Cannes would have topped off what has already been a huge year for the Aussie star.

Elordi's reps are yet to respond to the reports that he won't be part of the jury. 

But while that is a blow to his career, things are looking up in his personal life, with the Kissing Booth star being seen getting cozy with none other than Kendall Jenner.

The pair set tongues wagging when, according to DeuxMoi, sources claimed the pair were seen "making out" and "all over each other" at Justin Bieber's Coachella party.

Now, a source has since told The Daily Mail that beauty mogul Kylie Jenner was the one who played cupid for the pair.

She knows him well through boyfriend Timothée Chalamet's acting circle and thanks to awards season, decided to push her sister in his direction.

The outlet also reported that Elordi and Jenner have actually been dating for more than two months.
