'Hell will freeze over:' Rebekah Vardy's comment on whether she owes Coleen Rooney an apology

Rebekah Vardy said "hell will freeze over" before she ever apologises to Coleen Rooney following their Wagatha Christie feud.

Vardy, 44, has continued to claim she's innocent in the online beef turned legal battle, which started when Rooney, 40, accused Vardy's Instagram account of leaking 'false stories' about her to the press in a now infamous social media post.

Vardy has always denied the allegations, taking it as far as suing Rooney for libel, a type of defamation, in a UK court.Rebekah Vardy during the Premier League match between Leicester City and Southampton at the King Power Stadium, Leicester on Sunday 22nd May 2022.

Despite losing the court case and being ordered to pay Rooney's legal fees amounting to £1.5 million ($2.8 million), Vardy told The Sun that "hell will freeze over" before she apologises to her former friend.

"I'm never going to apologise for something I didn't do. Hell will freeze over before I do that. I'm living with the judgment the judge made but, still to this day, I believe she was wrong," she told the publication.

Her husband, footballer Jamie Vardy, also rushed to her defence, saying: 'People thinking that Bex was a villain, it's just a load of s--t but everyone close to her knows, that's all she needs.

"It was really tough seeing Bex in pain."

Vardy went on to say she was "f---ing bored" of the beef, adding she had "no negative feelings" towards Rooney.

"'I've got no idea what [Coleen] thinks of me, but I'm not bothered."

The now-infamous feud started when Rooney suspected someone in her life was leaking stories about her to the press.

She decided to conduct her own investigation into the leak, blocking everyone from her story besides Vardy before posting a series of fake stories to her Instagram account.Rebekah Vardy and Leicester City's Jamie Vardy following the Premier League match at The King Power Stadium, Leicester. When these fake stories appeared on the front page of The Sun with an exclusive tag, Rooney concluded that Vardy was the leak.

However, instead of privately addressing it, Rooney took to Twitter (now X) to air out the beef, writing a thread about her investigation.

"For a few years now, someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The SUN newspaper of my private posts and stories," the post started.

"There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family – all without my permission or knowledge."Rebekah Vardy, Wife of Jamie Vardy of Leicester City, acknowledges the fans during a lap of honour following the Premier League match between Leicester City FC and Ipswich Town FC at The King Power Stadium on May 18, 2025 in Leicester, England.

She went on to say she had "a suspicion" on who is was due to "various reasons," and went on to explain what she did to figure it out.

"Over the past five months, I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the Sun newspaper.

"And you know what, they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house."Wagatha Christie full statement

She completed the post with the now infamous line.

"I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them."

"It's ..........Rebekah Vardy's account."

The post went viral, with people online dubbing Rooney as "Wagatha Christie," playing on the fact that Rooney and Vardy are both self-proclaimed"WAGS" (Wives and Girlfriends) of footy stars.
