'I know who I am': Sydney Sweeney finally addresses 'MAGA Barbie' accusations

Sydney Sweeney has finally addressed being labelled a "MAGA Barbie" by online commenters.

The Housemaid star, 28, has been branded "Make America Great Again Barbie", with people speculating she's is an avid supporter of US President Donald Trump.

"I've never been here to talk about politics. I've always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of," the actress said.

"And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn. But it's somebody else assigning something to me, and I can't control that."

When asked why she doesn't correct the assumptions about her, Sweeney said there's no point, because there's "no winning." 

"I haven't figured it out. I'm not a hateful person. If I say, 'That's not true,' they'll come at me like, 'You're just saying that to look better,'" she explained.

"There's no winning. There's never any winning.

"I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am. I can't make everyone love me. I know what I stand for."

The Euphoria star went on to say she "isn't a political person," adding she never wanted to get involved in politics.

"I'm in the arts. I'm not here to speak on politics. That's not an area I've ever even imagined getting into. It's not why I became who I am," she said.Sydney Sweeney steps out for Christy premiere

"I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don't believe in hate in any form.

"I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another."

Despite wanting to stay out of politics, Sweeney always seems to be at the centre of scandal.

The actress found herself in hot water after featuring in an American Eagle jeans campaign in July 2025, which received backlash for its "eugenics" undertones.A US fashion brand's stock has soared after the company announced an advertising campaign with actress Sydney Sweeney.

She also faced backlash over Sydney's Bathwater Bliss bars with Dr. Squatch Soap, which included drops of her bathwater.

The move sparked backlash from women online, who said the soap bar reinforced a culture where women are sexualised and commodified.
