Mandy Moore takes swipe at Ryan Adam's proposal faux pas in rare comment about ex-husband
Mandy Moore has made a rare comment about her ill-fated marriage to musician Ryan Adams, taking a jab at his proposal.
The actress and singer, 42, said her second husband, Taylor Goldsmith, asked her dad for her hand in marriage before he proposed – something her ex did not.
"He was touched," Moore said of her father on her That Was Us podcast.

"I had been betrothed before, but that person did not ask my father. So I think my dad was very touched that it was done in the traditional way. My dad appreciates that.
"But I believe he also is super awkward. He was like, 'Oh gosh, you don't have to ask for my permission,' as Taylor recounted it to me."
The podcast episode debated whether asking for a parent's blessing was still meaningful today, with Moore and her co-hosts, Chris Sullivan and Sterling K. Brown, agreeing a "heads up" was the right thing to do.

Moore and Adams, 51, began dating in 2007 and married in 2009. Six years later, she filed for divorce and it was finalised in 2016.
The actress joined six other women who came forward and accused Adams of misconduct in a 2019 New York Times article.
She alleged he used music "as a point of control" and stopped her from "moving forward in that part of her career".
Adams denied the allegations and in 2020 offered a broad apology for "the ways I've mistreated people through my life and career".
Moore moved on, marrying Goldsmith in 2018. They share three children, sons August, five, and Oscar, three, and daughter Louise, one.
Most recently, Adams caused waves when he dubbed Australia the "worst country ever" after a series of on-stage antics during his 2025 tour.
Some of the New York, New York singer's behaviours included leaving the stage mid-song, complaining about the flashing lights of cameras, and rambling about Moore, fans at the shows said.
