Moment Jimmy Barnes' grandkids left him 'in tears' at 70th birthday bash

Jimmy Barnes has celebrated his milestone 70th birthday surrounded by his closest family and friends.

The Cold Chisel rocker has now revealed he erupted into ''tears'' during a very "special moment" during the celebrations.

The Working Class Man singer told his more than 252,000 Instagram followers his grandchildren performed A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman in a "moving" gesture, sharing footage of the moment.

"I have to share this special moment at my birthday party," the Scottish-Australian rocker wrote.

"Grandchildren Betty, Billy, Rosie and Dylan singing 'A Million Dreams' from 'The Greatest Showman' accompanied by Leo on the piano.

"There's something very moving about children's voices, they had me and half the room in tears. I'm a lucky man."

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.. strong genes showing there ?," one follower comment underneath.

The rock icon, who is the father of Today Extra star David Campbell, also shared images from his party including the moment he cut a lavish red and fruit-topped cake.

"Thank you for all my birthday wishes. I had a huge celebration with family and friends last night. Recovering with an easy pizza day out in the garden," he said in one post.

Jane also shared a post on Barnes' official page, sharing a public birthday message to her husband and writing in part: "Today we celebrate 70 years of my incredible husband - the love of my life.

"Jimmy, you are the most caring, generous, funny, and talented man I know, and we are all so lucky to share this life with you."

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, he is a father of eight and one of Australia's most successful rockers.

Barnes recently underwent hip replacement surgery and just last year released the studio album, Defiant.

He's playing shows this month and later this year across Australia and Indonesia.
