Nicole Kidman reveals she is pursuing a new career path
Nicole Kidman is pivoting her career in an interesting new direction.
The 58-year-old revealed during a talk at the University of San Francisco's War Memorial Gym on Saturday, April 11 that she is pursuing being a death doula.
The Oscar-winning actress spoke about the change to investigative journalist and USF graduate Vicky Nguyen as part of the school's Silk Speaker Series.

She said though the idea "may sound a little weird," she was inspired to take it on after the death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, in September 2024.
"As my mother was passing, she was lonely, and there was only so much the family could provide," Kidman said, as per the San Francisco Chronicle.
"Between my sister and I, we have so many children and our careers and our work, and wanting to take care of her because my father wasn't in the world anymore, and that's when I went, 'I wish there was these people in the world that were there to sit impartially and just provide solace and care.'"

"So that's part of my expansion and one of the things I will be learning."
The Babygirl actress is mum to Bella Kidman Cruise, 33, Connor Cruise, 31, her adopted children whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
She also shares 17-year-old Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and 15-year-old Faith Margaret Kidman Urban with her ex-husband, Keith Urban.
Her sister, 55-year-old Antonia Kidman, has six children.
According to Palliative Care Australia, a death doula or end-of-life doula is someone who is engaged to "support a person who has a life-limiting diagnosis.
"The support provided is not medical and is offered to ensure the person is aware of their choices and to provide non-medical support and comfort."
This occupation is only just starting to emerge in Australia.
The Moulin Rouge actress has been open about mourning her mother since her death.
Most recently, the star shared a post dedicated to her late mum on March 13, on what would have been her birthday.

In the throwback image, Kidman is seen with her signature red locks, smiling as she poses beside her mother.
"Remembering my Mumma on her birthday. Always in my heart Mumma," Kidman captioned the post to her millions of followers.
Underneath, fans flocked to comment and send their love to the star, while Kidman's friend and actress Reese Witherspoon posted a sweet message underneath the post.
"Your angel mama <3," the Hollywood star wrote.
