Meet cute
Pink and Hart met in 2001 at the Summer X Games, an extreme sporting event held in Philadelphia, USA.
It wasn't an ideal beginning to their relationship.
At that same event, Hart was hospitalised after he fell 35 feet while attempting a mid-air flip on his bike, shattering his right foot, as well as breaking three ribs and his tailbone.
They began dating soon after, with Pink once telling People they "really grew up together" having been in their early 20s when they first met.
Pink told USA Today his bad-boy charm wore off once she saw him injured: "After you spend a couple of nights in the hospital with him when he's broken, the excitement wears off."
After two years of dating, the pair decided to part ways. While they have rarely spoken about the circumstances of the split, Pink wrote a song about it called Love Song, which appeared on her album Try This.
The song explored fears around falling in love.
Their first reunion
The pair reunited in 2004, andhad clearly learned lessons about what it would take for them to be together. At the time Pink was riding her first wave of fame and Hart was travelling the world competing in prestigious events.
"When you first get together, you look at that person as your entire world," Pink later told People.
"One person can't be your entire world. You have to have your own passions, your own friends, your own time to yourself.
"I used to be super needy. Now we expect less of each other, and that allows us to give each other more somehow."
It was Pink who proposed to Hart during his race at Mammoth Lakes, California.
She famously wrote "Will You Marry Me?" on a pit board, and when he didn't stop, added "I'm Serious!" on the next lap.
Hart immediately pulled off the track to accept, and they married in 2006.
Married life then separation
Pink and Hart tied the knot in Costa Rica but two years later, split again.
"This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another. While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger," Associated Press reported.
Pink explored their breakup in the song So What, which appeared on the album Funhouse in 2008.
The lyrics included: "Guess I just lost my husband, I don't know where he went, So I'm gonna drink my money, I'm not gonna pay his rent."
Hart even starred in the music video.
Fighting for their love
Pink famously fought for her marriage, taking action to prevent a divorce. The couple attended marriage counselling and announced they had reunited in 2009.
She said in a later interview that marriage counselling was "the only reason that we're still together" and that they learned they were speaking "two different languages".
"You need someone to hear both of you and then translate it for you," she added.
The pair put in the work and have been happily married every since.
Pink said during an interview: "You have to end up fixing yourself; you can't fix the other person".
She also described their marriage as "both gritty and sweet".
In April, Hart told People"We're rebuilding. Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards to move forward."
Pink even kept the divorce papers they never signed, later showing them to Hart as a testament to their survival.
After settling down, the couple became parents in 2011, welcoming daughter Willow later that year and son Jameson in 2016.
They appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show together in 2023, where Hart was asked to share how he felt about the many songs Pink has written about him.
"You know, we've been together 21 years. I have very thick skin," Hart said.
"Very little affects me. I don't know exactly what day she's talking about, specifically. But it's probably just the temperature."
Breakup rumours and a swift denial
Fans were devastated to wake up to the news the couple had called it quits again, with Pink issuing a fast denial via Instagram, much to everyone's relief.
People magazine reported the pair had split, with the singer responding an hour later, calling the story "untrue" and "fake news"
"Hi everybody... I was just alerted to the fact that I'm separated from my husband, I didn't know, thank you, People magazine," she said in a video posted to Instagram
"Thank you for letting me know, I was wondering if you would like to tell my children, they are also unaware.
"Stay tuned, though! Who knows what could happen next?"
The couple has now been married for 20 years and they regularly tour with their children who are now 12 and seven.
Pink has previously said on Instagram: "Love is a lifetime of coming back to the table.
"We almost didn't make it to this one, well a couple of them, if I'm being honest."
"When I met you, 22 years ago, I just wanted someone that wouldn't lie to me.
"I didn't have a clue about commitment, building a life together, intimacy, trust. It's f--king hard. But man if I'm not humbled by the surprise of loyalty, history, forgiveness, and resilience.
"How love rearranges itself and reappears after an empty night or five. I'm proud we made it to the other side of this year. I wear our scars proudly.
"You are my stubborn, beautiful, immovable rock."
