Truth behind Robert Irwin's bizarre 'movie' role finally revealed: 'Cat's out of the bag'

Robert Irwin has long teased a mysterious 'movie' project in the works – and now, he's finally unveiled the finished product.

Having previously lead fans to believe the project was a film, Irwin has since revealed it to be a cinematic advertisement for Columbia shoes.

The ad leans into Irwin's love for wildlife and self-deprecating humour and features him outrunning 100 "crocodiles", who are in fact actors in inflatable crocodile suits.

In a comedic chase, Irwin navigates some seriously tough terrain as the 100 crocs attempt to obstruct his way; leaping and dodging to reach his final destination.

"Nature does not always favour the strongest creature, it favours the one best adapted to the grown beneath its feet," a voiceover reminiscent of David Attenborough says.

"In the ultimate race for survival, the threat is everywhere, the voiceover continues.

"The crocs are formidable, but they have one weak link; their footwear."

Sharing the ad to social media, Irwin wrote: "The cat's out of the bag..."

"#MAXIMPACT isn't a movie... yet," he cheekily added, accompanied by a wink emoji.

Even though it wasn't a full feature film, Irwin's fans were still wrapped with the end result and took the comment section to react.

"Robert living his best life! It's his world and we're just living in it!" one wrote.

One follower called it "phenomenal marketing" while another simply said "this is gold!"

Irwin previously dropped hints of the project on his social media, alluding to the Max Impact 'movie.'

The words intercepting the scenes said, "In a changing world... the threat is everywhere," before sharing the name of the film.

In his caption, the Dancing With The Stars winner wrote, "Something epic is coming. I'm so excited to finally share what I've been working on… things are about to get wild."

Fans were eager to see what comes next for the young star, who was recently also named as the host of a new spin-off, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.

One wrote, "Ok I have been waiting for you to be in a movie!!! Really hope that's what this is!!!"

"I feel like you're checking everything off the bucket list recently ? can't wait!!" another wrote.

"Movie, Documentary, or TV Show either way I'm so excited," one said.

Another joked, "ROBERT WHEN DO YOU SLEEP?!?"
