Alex Duong, comedian and Blue Bloods actor, dies aged 42 from septic shock after cancer battle
Comedian Alex Duong, known for his work in stand-up comedy and his role in Blue Bloods, has died aged 42 from septic shock following his battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.
Duong's passing was confirmed to TMZ, with a close friend telling the outlet that the comedian had died on Saturday, March 28, local time at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California, surrounded by family and friends.
The night before he died, he had gone into septic shock.

The comic, who starred in three episodes of the crime procedural, had been battling alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma for a year before he died.
According to Rare Cancers Australia, "Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) is a less common type of rhabdomyosarcoma that generally affects kids over five years old and teenagers."
Rhabdomyosarcomas are a rare form of sarcoma that develops in muscles.

In Duong's case, an extremely aggressive tumour was found behind his eye after he experienced headaches. He eventually lost sight in his left eye.
Eight weeks before his death, Duong had a seizure and hit his head, which sent him to the ICU.
To support their friend, his fellow comedians hosted "The Alex Duong Has Cancer In His Eye Comedy Benefit Show" in LA, with big names such as Ronny Chieng and Atusko Okatsuka performing at the August 2025 show, among others.

Duong grew up in Dallas as the youngest of six children. He pursued medicine before pivoting to creative industries, and has been an actor since 2006, according to his IMDb page.
He starred in 40 projects across his career, starting with Everybody Hates Chris and including 90210, The Young and the Restless, Pretty Little Liars, and more.
He is survived by his wife, Cristina, and his five-year-old daughter, Everest.
