The couple were first reportedly eyeing a venue in Rhode Island, where the singer owns a mansion overlooking the ocean.

A source told Page Six late last year the pair were thinking of switching venues and going "all out" at a bigger venue in New York to fit more guests.

The media outlet today reported Swift and her NFL star fiancee will tie the knot in July in New York, seemingly confirming the original tip.

July 4, Independence Day in the US, is known to be Swift's favourite holiday, so the July 3 date would tie into her annual celebrations.

New York also makes sense for the location of the wedding, with the Fate of Ophelia singer having close ties to the city.

Swift moved into a penthouse in TriBeCa in 2014, converting two adjacent penthouses into one large apartment.

She later bought the townhouse next door and a loft in the same building.9PR Taylor Swift engagement

Swift has lived in New York for over 10 years; however, she moves between her homes across the US, which are located in Nashville, Rhode Island, and Beverly Hills.

She wrote the song Welcome to New York in 2014 as a love letter to the city.

"Like any great love, it keeps you guessing/ Like any real love, it's ever-changing / Like any true love, it drives you crazy / But you know you wouldn't change anything, anything, anything," she sings.

Kelce has also expressed his love for New York, previously saying, "It's cool to just kinda vibe around the city."Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

"I think it's one of my favourite things to do in New York, it's just be one with the city and just kinda walk the streets and feel the electricity, feeling everybody doing their own s–t and meeting a few new people along the way."

The pair have been seen out and about in New York several times, clearly making it a favourite date night spot – and the perfect location for their wedding.

Swift spilled some vague details of the couple's impending nuptials and proudly showed off her engagement ring during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show last year.

She even invited the Irish TV host to the wedding, and hinted it's going to be a big one with a huge guest list.

"I'm so excited about it. I know it's gonna be fun to plan, because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the bubble," she said.

"And you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they can be there. I'm not gonna do that," she quipped, making the audience laugh.

"Anyone I've ever talked to [will be invited] … I shouldn't have said any of that."

Swift added during an appearance on Heart Radio in the UK that she had "never thought" about her future wedding.Taylor Swift worth estimated USD$2 billion

"You would think that I had been the type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life," she said.

"But I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person.

"So I haven't even thought about that, doing a hen do or whatever."
