The eerily similar on-air stoush between Kyle and Jackie O that happened months before the row that ended it all
Australian radio experts Irena Hulme and Craig Bruce have shared their shock at the end of the Kyle & Jackie O show in a special edition of their podcast Game Changers: Radio.
Hulme and Bruce, who have decades of radio management between them, concluded that the end of the show was "a long time coming" and referenced a noticeable cooling in Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson's working relationship in recent months.
ARN Media this week announced Henderson was no longer willing to work with Sandilands following an on air blow up on February 20 that saw Henderson take leave from the show.

Hulme and Bruce, who was program director at 2DayFM during Kyle and Jackie's reign at the station, have since found an eerily similar on air clash between the pair that took place nine months ago in May 2025.
Listen to the previous clash in the video above.
Hulme introduced the segment by saying: "See if you can hear the similarities."
The segment began with Sandilands saying to Henderson: "There's a lot you can't remember. Are you sure you're the full quid?"
Sandilands then cited another example of Henderson denying something he claimed had happened.

"We all laughed because almost every break you were on the phone and you genuinely thought that you weren't," he said.
Henderson responded: "No, but guys, that actually annoys me that you guys did that because I was on the phone, I was researching stuff to do with O News or the segment that was coming up, and I specifically remember."
Henderson continued: "I feel like I have been getting these digs a lot lately."
"It's been happening a lot," Sandilands responded, referencing his co-hosts perceived distraction.
"You guys don't even know what I'm doing over here, don't accuse me of not paying attention when I actually am," Henderson said.
Sandilands responded that he'd "take your word for it" before saying, "I don't mean to be combative with you, its just the way it is".
Henderson continued to defend herself while Sandilands attempted to de-escalate the conversation, which ended with Henderson walking out of the studio, claiming she was being "gaslit".
"Gee... that's a tough listen," Hulme commented after listening to the earlier stoush.
"So this has been a long time coming then," Bruce added. "That was six months ago on the air."
Sandilands' and Henderson clashed again on February 20 began when the radio shock jock berated Henderson on-air after she raised the topic of astrology and birth charts during a discussion about Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
"Your fixation on this has made you almost unworkable," Sandilands said.
He said her fixation on astrology charts made her like a "drug addict", knowing Henderson has faced addiction struggles before.
"You are not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me."
Henderson was noticeably hurt by Sandilands comments and never returned to the show.
The Game Changers: Radio hosts discussed the "we take everything to air" philosophy of the Kyle & Jackie O show and whether their split has therefore been inevitable.
"I think there has been some other moments along the way over the years where that trust has been breached by Kyle to Jackie and I think that's part of why we are here in this place right now," they added.
"It's a high-wire act to be honest all the time when the mics are on. But it does require a certain degree of discipline and focus and filtering so that you're not putting your on air partner in a difficult situation."
Hulme and Bruce concluded the show was "always going to go in a drama".
"It was never going to go quietly into the night," he added.
Hulme has extensive music and programming experience across Australian radio networks including and held senior roles at Hit, Triple M, 2Day FM, KIIS, and Nova.
Bruce spent nearly 30 years at Southern Cross Austereo, playing a vital role in developing talent.
He was also part of the last-minute negotiations to retain the Kyle & Jackie O show for the network before they defected to KIIS in 2014.
